How do I know that God is calling me...?

Hmmmmmm... I do?

Asking about vocation is like asking "How do you know that you exist?"
There's no answer other than "I know that I exist" or "I don't know."

The same with vocation.
There are people who know that God calls them to do work for Him and people who don't have that certainty in their hearts.

Vocation however is different from dreams, goals and plans.

Dreams are our desires of who we want to be.
Goals are our destination of where we want to arrive.
Plans are the paths we want to take.

But vocation is not from our own will.

Think of a situation like that:
One day a man knocks on your door, and when you open, he tells you that he was send by the King of a great nation, and that the King has choosen you out of all outstanding men and women to be his attendant. If you accept this job, you will not only work at the Palace, but you will receive your own quarters and great fortune once you retire. Will you accept?

If you do, then welcome to vocation.

That's how it feels for me.

Vocation started with that moment, when I felt like I've accepted some nonphysical Letter of Summon to be God's servant.

In short, when we set our dreams, goals and plans, we do the first step.

But in case of vocation, God does the first step, the only thing a choosen man or woman can do is either say "yes" or "no" - that is the only choice people choosen by God have.

But well, it's a once in a lifetime chance that may never come again... so why not?
